On Friday, the International Cricket Council (ICC) made a major goof-up as it listed former Indian Cricket Team captain Rahul Dravid as a left-handed batsman instead of right-handed in their Hall of Fame page on their website. Rahul Dravid, who was a right-handed batsman, retired from international cricket in March 2012. He was inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame in 2018 along with Australia legend Ricky Ponting and England women's stalwart Claire Taylor during the ICC Annual Conference in Dublin in July 2018.

ICC Wrongly States Dravid as Left-Handed on Website

In Dravid's section on the ICC official website, his batting style was stated as 'Left-Handed.' This received major flak from netizens on social media. Dravid, who became the fifth Indian to be inducted into the ICC Hall Of Fame received his commemorative cap from fellow ICC Hall of Fame inductee and former Indian captain Sunil Gavaskar before the start of the fifth and final ODI between India and West Indies at Thiruvananthapuram last year. Dravid was formally inducted into the Hall of Fame on November 1, 2018. Bishen Singh Bedi, Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar and Anil Kumble are the only Indian cricketers apart from him to be inducted into the ICC Hall of Fame.

'The Wall' of Indian Cricket

Throughout his career, Rahul Dravid played 164 Tests and 344 ODIs for India and scored a total of 24,177 runs across the two formats. Also known as 'The Wall,' Dravid was widely praised for being the most dependable player of the Indian cricket team. Currently, Rahul Dravid serves as the Overseas Batting Consultant for the Indian Cricket Team, and also as the Head of Cricket Operations at the National Cricket Academy (NCA). Dravid has also been honoured with the Padma Shri and the Padma Bhushan award.
