The Indian batsmen continued their dominating home season to end the final session in a commanding position. After dismantling Bangladesh for just 150 all out on Day 1, India are now 343 runs ahead at Stumps on Day 2. Riding on Mayank Agarwal’s epic double ton and useful contributions from Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane, the hosts are now looking all set to post a huge first-innings total.

The Indian batsmen continued from where they left on Day 1. After losing Rohit Sharma cheaply last evening, Pujara and Agarwal batted together with a 91-run second-wicket stand. Pujara himself scored a 72-ball 54 before becoming the first wicket to fall in the day. However, Mayank Agarwal carried on as he stitched a huge 190-run stand with Ajinkya Rahane. Even though Rahane missed out on a ton, Agarwal registered his highest Test score, bettering his 215 against South Africa last month.

The right-handed opener was finally dismissed for 243 as he switched gears in a quest of scoring some quick runs. His innings was laced with 28 boundaries and eight sixes, including one which he hit to bring up his double ton. Abu Jayed was the pick of the bowlers among the Bangladeshis as the right-arm pacer accounted for four out of six Indian wickets in the innings. Some quick hits in the end by Umesh Yadav stretched Indian score further as the tail-ender scored 25 off just 10 balls with a boundary and three sixes. With a first-innings lead of 343, India finally ended Day 2 at 493-6 with Ravindra Jadeja (60*) and Umesh Yadav still at the crease.
