IND vs BAN: Rohit Sharma to become first Indian to play 100 T20Is

In the previous T20I match against Bangladesh, Rohit Sharma scored only nine runs but was able to surpass Virat Kohli to become the highest run-scorer in the shortest format. Rohit holds the record of most T20I runs with 2452 runs from 91 innings striking at 137. India lost the first T20I of the three-match series by seven wickets as Bangladesh registered their first-ever win against their Asian rivals. India will eye to win the second game at Rajkot to level the series. In the same match, Sharma also surpassed MS Dhoni to become the most capped Indian cricketer in T20I. Now, going into the second T20I, the Indian opener is expected to mark another major milestone.

IND vs BAN: Rohit Sharma's upcoming major milestone

The right-hand batsman is currently leading the Indian team and will become the first Indian cricketer to feature in hundred T20 International matches. The only cricketer who has played more than 100 T20 International matches is Pakistan all-rounder Shoaib Malik. After his appearance in the second T20I, Sharma will become the second cricketer to play in 100 T20 International matches. After the first T20I, Sharma is tied with former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi on second in the list of most appearances in T20Is overall.

Rohit Sharma has been at his peak form this year. After top-scoring in the 2019 ICC World Cup with 648 runs, he made his debut as an opener for India in Test cricket during the recent series against South Africa. He ended up scoring 529 runs in the series, which included a maiden Test double hundred.
