Ind vs SA 2nd Test: Virat Kohli joins elite list after scoring 250

Kohli's joins the likes of Virender Sehwag, Karun Nair, VVS Laxman, and Rahul Dravid after achieving 250-run mark during Ind vs SA 2nd Test currently in Pune.

Breaking records seems like a habit for Team India skipper Virat Kohli in the current scenario. By the time he hangs up his boots, he will have numerous records against his name. On Friday, Kohli wrote his name in the record books yet again after becoming only the fifth Indian batsman to score 250 in Test innings. He achieved the feat on the second day of the second Test match against South Africa at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune.

Kohli joins elite club

Kohli has now joined the likes of Virender Sehwag, Karun Nair, VVS Laxman, and Rahul Dravid who have achieved the feat. This was not the only record he broke throughout the day. This was not the only record that he registered against his name throughout the day. He scripted his name in record books when he scored a record seventh double-hundred of his career, became the first Indian captain to score 250 plus in a single Test innings. He has also now become the only Indian batsman with the most number of double tons to his name.

The Indian skipper reached his seventh double century in just 81 Tests and in the process surpassed the former Indian cricketers Sachin Tendulkar and Virender Sehwag who both have scored six double hundreds in their stellar career. Kohli also went past Australian legend Sir Donald Bradman to become the player with most 150-plus scores as Test captain. While Bradman had achieved the feat eight times in his career, Kohli has now done it nine times so far.

He also equaled former Australia skipper Ricky Ponting's record of scoring 19 Test hundreds as captain. Kohli is also the only Indian to smash 40 hundred in international cricket as captain and is now just two centuries away from surpassing Ponting's tally of 41 Test tons as captain with most hundreds in international cricket.

After posting a mammoth total on board Team India have now put themselves in the drivers seat after Umesh Yadav struck in his first two overs to remove South Africa openers Aiden Markram and Dean Elgar. Mohammed Shami then dismissed Temba Bavuma with his first ball of the match. The writing is very much on the wall for Faf du Plessis side who were expected to put up a much better performance in Pune test and make a comeback in the Test series.
