South Africa pacer Lungi Ngidi, who's in the Test side, is yet to get a game in the series and the final Test in Ranchi gives him a chance to help perform well

South Africa’s plan to beat India in the three-match Test series washed away after Virat Kohli’s team beat them in Pune and wrapped up the series in emphatic fashion. The third and final Test of the series will be played in Ranchi starting Saturday. South Africa pacer Lungi Ngidi, who is part of the Test side is yet to get a game in the series and the final test in Ranchi gives him a chance to help perform well as South Africa plays for pride.

Ind vs SA 3rd Test: Lungi Ngidi's love for CSK

Ngidi along with skipper Faf du Plessis played together for Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League. Last season, the South African pacer missed the lucrative league due to injury but said that if the opportunity is there to go back, he would love to go back. Speaking to the media, he said that he enjoyed his time at CSK and a number of fans sent him a lot of messages during the time when wasn’t playing for them.

Ind vs SA 3rd Test: Lungi Ngidi on his love for cricket

Ngidi’s rise to the Test team has been rapid, but also not without hurdles. The cricketer has seen poverty closely but he fell in love with cricket since his social or financial life had no role to play in him taking up the sport. He said that while playing cricket on the field, everyone is equal.

Ind vs SA: Lungi Ngidi speaks on his friendship with Kagiso Rabada

Ngidi has played 33 matches in total (4 Test, 22 ODI and 7 T20I), while his teammate Kagiso Rabada is the spearhead of the national team’s bowling attack.  The pacer said that they did play a lot of school cricket together and it’s pretty awesome to come out to the international scene and play together. He also said that both of them get along very well and that relationship makes it a lot easier on the field in terms of communicating as well.
