Former India batsman and all-rounder Yuvraj Singh on Monday cited Glenn Maxwell's mental health issue and stated that the Indian cricketers feel compelled to play even when they are not in a condition. Australian hard-hitting batsman Glenn Maxwell decided to take an indefinite break from the game because of mental health issues as confirmed by Cricket Australia. Singh mentioned that Indian players fear of losing their place in the team.

"We deserve it (break). Because there are a lot of times we have been asked to play cricket that we don't want to. We have to play with the pressure that if we don't play we will be thrown out. That support should be given to the players. We see outside India, if players are fatigued and tired mentally like is the case with Maxwell, he has taken a break because he is feeling it. Our players can't do that because they fear they may lose their place. So a players' association is very important," added Yuvraj

Yuvraj Singh on MS Dhoni's future

Yuvraj Singh while talking to reporters also commented on the ongoing speculation about Mahendra Singh Dhoni's retirement. The lack of updates and the unavailability of Dhoni made speculations run wild on social media platforms.  However, it was reported that Dhoni is unavailable till November end.

When asked about the conjecture on MS Dhoni's future, Yuvraj said, "I don't know boss. You should ask your great selectors when you meet them. That's their call, not mine"

Yuvraj, who retired from international cricket not so long ago also apprised that there is a dire need for better selectors, who will be able to back its players in the longer run. The MSK Prasad-led selection committee has often been criticised for their outlook towards the sports. Yuvraj Singh opined about the same and said that the Indian team needs better selectors and their thinking is not as per the required standard.
