IPL: Ajinkya Rahane moves to Delhi Capitals for the upcoming season

After roping in Kings XI Punjab captain Ravichandran Ashwin, Ajinkya Rahane becomes the second high-profile Indian cricketer to join the Delhi Capitals team.

Indian Test stalwart Ajinkya Rahane was recently traded to Delhi Capitals by his franchise. In exchange, the Capitals sent out spinners Mayank Markande and Rahul Tewatia to Rajasthan Royals. After roping in Kings XI Punjab captain Ravichandran Ashwin in their line-up, Ajinkya Rahane becomes the second high-profile Indian cricketer to join the Delhi-based franchise.

IPL: Ajinkya Rahane moves from Rajasthan Royals to Delhi Capitals

Ajinkya Rahane joined the Royals for the 2011 season and was associated with the franchise till the 2019 edition. During his tenure with the side, Rahane played more than 100 T20 matches. He will now be joining his Team India mates Shikhar Dhawan and Ravichandran Ashwin in his new team. Rahane holds an impressive IPL record and is placed 11th in the list of all-time highest run-getters in the tournament. Altogether, the right-hander has scored 3,820 runs across all seasons in 140 IPL games.

Additionally, Mayank Markande, whom the Capitals traded from Mumbai Indians earlier in the ongoing transfer window, moved to the Rajasthan side for the upcoming IPL season. During the 2018 and 2019 editions, Markande played for Rohit Sharma-led Mumbai Indians team where he picked 16 wickets in 17 matches.

Rahul Tewatia will also be joining the Royals after representing Delhi Capitals in the last two seasons. He has played 20 matches in which he picked 14 wickets with his leg-breaks. Incidentally, Tewatia also made his IPL debut for Rajasthan Royals back in 2014.
