IPL stars who have also played for Brisbane Heat in the Big Bash League

The Brisbane Heat continue to establish their authority as a strong side after the signing of AB de Villiers. Let us take a look at their past signings.

The Brisbane Heat are one of the strongest teams in the Big Bash League. The 2012-13 winners have played host to some of the biggest players in cricket and with AB de Villiers becoming a part of the team, that list only keeps on getting bigger. Take a look at four Indian Premier League (IPL) stars who have been a part of the Brisbane Heat in the Big Bash League.

AB de Villiers

The Heat's latest signing, De Villiers is a T20 property that T20 tournaments around the world have not been able to resist. De Villiers is an IPL veteran as he has been a part of the league since its inception. In his 12 IPL seasons, De Villiers has played 154 matches and has scored 4,395 runs with three centuries to his name. He is the ninth-highest run-scorer in the IPL.

Chris Lynn

The captain of the Brisbane Heat is another irresistible T20 property who is in high demand throughout the world. Lynn's destructive capability with the bat came to the forefront with his time in Brisbane and surely enough, the Kolkata Knight Riders made him an integral part of their playing 11 in 2018. In only 41 matches, Lynn has scored 1,280 IPL runs with a high score of 93*.

Matthew Hayden

The legendary Australian brute was an integral part of the Heat since the inaugural 2011-12 season. Hayden played for the Chennai Super Kings from 2008 to 2010 and scored 1107 runs in his 32-match IPL stint. This included winning the Orange Cap in the 2009 season and being part of Chennai's first IPL win in 2010. He was one of Chennai's biggest match-winners in his time there.

Brendon McCullum

McCullum was an integral part of the Brisbane Heat since the inception of the BBL in the 2011-12 season. McCullum is an IPL hero who is arguably one of the reasons behind the IPL's success. In the very first match of the IPL on April 18, 2008, McCullum made 158* against the Royal Challengers Banglore and hit 13 sixes in that match. He held the record for the highest score in a T20 match until he was surpassed by Chris Gayle's 175* in 2013. McCullum has scored 2880 runs in the 109 matches he played in the IPL.
