The renaming ceremony, organised to give a tribute to Arun Jaitley, was clubbed with Virat Kohli’s felicitation. A stand in the new ‘Arun Jaitley’ stadium was named after Virat Kohli on this occasion. The video shown at the stadium portrayed Virat Kohli as a superhero who took the Indian cricket teams to new heights.

Inside the video

The ‘Superhero’ video of Virat Kohli showed him wearing a cape and taking off in the sky, embarking on the victorious journey to lead India. The first segment of the video showed the number of awards that Virat has received, which includes, Padma Shri, Arjuna Awards, Sir Gary Sobers Trophy and ICC Cricketer of the year. The video then progresses to a billboard showing Virat’s achievement as the first Asian skipper to breach the Aussie barrier. Furthermore, the video depicted Virat Kohli’s stellar accomplishments in South Africa and Sri Lanka. Virat was the first Indian captain to win back to back test series in Sri Lanka and scored the highest ODI score against Pakistan in Bangladesh. The renaming ceremony

The Feroz Shah Kotla stadium was renamed as the ‘Arun Jaitley’ stadium on Thursday. It was done in order to pay tribute to the former union minister. Arun Jaitley was the president of the District Cricket Association (DDCA) from 1993 to 2013 and he brought about many reforms in the place. Jaitley played a significant role in renovating the stadium and constructing world-class dressing rooms. He was also an important person behind increasing the capacity of the stadium to accommodate more fans. Although the stadium was named after Jaitley, the ground will continue to be called Feroz Shah Kotla.
