Mahmudullah urges Bangladesh players to learn from past mistakes

Bangladesh captain Mahmudullah has urged his team to learn from their past mistakes by focusing on the crunch moments of the game ahead of the 1st T20I

Mahmudullah Riyad will be leading Bangladesh in the upcoming three-match T20I series against India starting from Sunday. The first T20I will be played at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. Meanwhile, Rohit Sharma will be leading the Men In Blue as Virat Kohli has been rested. Heading into this tour, Bangladesh suffered a huge blow as their star all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been banned for two years by the ICC. Ahead of the first T20I, Mahmudullah spoke about learning from their past mistakes.

Mahmudullah on Bangladesh's past mistakes

Bangladesh skipper Mahmudullah said that the team had gone very close but were unable to cross the line and hopefully they can learn from the mistakes from the past and to try and focus on the crunch moments of the game instead of thinking over the past. He then added that they needed to be consistent in their batting.

"I think we have to be much more consistent in our batting probably putting up big scores every now and then so that we can have enough runs and lay a foundation for our bowlers", said Mahmudullah

Riyad then mentioned about his experienced bowling side along with a leg spinner in their side named Al-Amin Hossain. ''We have an experienced bowling side. So having said that it is a great opportunity for us. "

Mahmadullah backs his youngsters  

Reflecting on India's 11 home series wins, Mahmudullah credited the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) for having found a proper wrist spinner. The current T20I skipper mentioned some names and then added that the search for the wrist spinners is still in progress. At the same time, he also backed the youngsters to grab the opportunity.

Mahmudullah says everyone in the team is healthy

Responding to a question on how the team was going to tackle the pollution, Mahmudullah said that the team had been practicing for over two days and had adapted to the conditions. Mahmudullah said that all the players in the Bangladesh squad were healthy and that the focus was going to be on the game as pollution was not under their control. Mahmudullah also revealed the team's strategy for India and said that it was an opportunity for youngsters to prove themselves and cement their place in the national side.  

"There was smog when we came, we practised for three days and tried to adapt to conditions. It is not under our control. Everyone in the team is healthy", said Mahmudullah while addressing the pre-match press conference.
