Injury-plagued Bangladeshi pacer Mustafizur Rahman will have to prove his fitness in the National Cricket League if he wants to play against India in November. Mustafizur has had an issue with his ankle and missed the first phase of NCL because of the same. Chief selector of Bangladesh cricket, Minhajul Abedin, commented on the test Mustafizur will have to go through in order to participate in the India tour. Among other pacers from Bangladesh, Taskin Ahmed and Mohammad Saifuddin are also recovering from injuries.

"We have to assess how many overs he can bowl"

The Bangladesh Cricket Board had earlier declared that its players will have to take part in the National Cricket League, Bangladesh's first-class competition, to be eligible to participate in November's India tour. Bangladesh have already been cautious with Mustafizur and his Test workload has been lightened as well because of the injury-related issues the pacer has had. His participation in the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup was also under doubt as he revealed an injury he had sustained before the World Cup.

Abedin commented on how there were guidelines which said that Mustafizur could not bowl more than 15 overs in a game. Abedin also empathised on how the Board could not select who plays the game as the bowling coaches would make the final call on Mustafizur's participation. He added that Bangladesh has been concerned over the injury issues their pace bowlers face. Abedin expected a change to occur in the trend as the BCB is emphasising on bowlers' fitness, right from the domestic level.
