'Only tried to do my best': Rohit Sharma after India levels series 1-1

As the 'Hitman' show sealed the deal for India in their second encounter with Bangladesh, Rohit Sharma heaped praises over the team's performance at the post-match presentation. Bangladesh had managed to score just 153/6 in their twenty overs. Lauding the performance of the spinners, Sharma said that Chahal and Sundar helped India bounce back after Bangladesh openers Liton Das and Mohammad Naim had got the visitors off to a solid start.

"Both the spinners are very smart and they understand their bowling really well. They always have conversations with the coach and the captain as to how to improve. They played a lot of domestic cricket and Sundar has been our new ball bowler and today I wanted to change it considering how big the ground is," Rohit said at the post-match conference. 

Sharma, who played his 100th T20 further said that he has only tried to do this best without underestimating the opposition. The stand-in skipper also said that he knew the pitch will be good to bat on and he wanted to take the dew factor out of the equation by bowling first.

"I never underestimate the opposition, particularly the bowlers... all these years I have only tried to do my best when I have the bat in my hand. I knew the conditions were perfect and there was no turn on offer, all I wanted to do was remain stationed and tonk the ball"

Missed opportunities

Bangladesh got off to a brilliant start with Liton Das and Naim powering their side to 59 runs in just 7 overs. However, Bangladesh were lucky enough as Rishabh Pant's stumping of Liton Das was ruled Not Out by the TV umpire. Das was granted another lifeline in 7th over by skipper Rohit Sharma before succumbing to a run out in the next over itself. Washington Sundar fetched India the second wicket as Mohammad Naim, who looked well in form, was caught out on the third delivery of Sundar's last over. 
Bangladesh's star in the first T20, Mushfiqur Rahim, unfortunately, could not shine in the second match as Yuzvendra Chahal picked his wicket in 13th over of the game. The same over also saw Rishabh Pant uproot the bails as he stumped Soumya Sarkar way out of the crease off Chahal's last delivery.
