  • Australia's Nathan Lyon has had a wicketless match in the second Ashes Test but has managed to create an impact for the visitors with some skillful bowling that left batsmen clueless
  • England were at 141 runs for the loss of two wickets when Nathan Lyon bowled an incredible turner, a delivery that can be compared to Shane Warne's ball of the century, to Joe Denly.
  • Australia, on the other hand, were mounting pressure on England with their pace attack, but were left frustrated at the end of Day three

Former Australian spinner Shane Warne was left shell-shocked after Nathan Lyon bowled an extraordinary turner to England's Joe Denly. Joe Root and Joe Denly held the fort for England on Day three after a miserable collapse for a mere 67 runs in the first innings. Chasing a target of 359 runs, England are left with seven wickets in hand, as they will hope to make a huge comeback in order to stake a claim for the Ashes urn. Australia is leading the series by 1-0 and are inching closer to victory despite playing without Steve Smith. Concussion substitute and replacement for Steve Smith Marnus Labuschagne played a remarkable knock of 80 runs, helping Australia put more runs on board and eventually set a target of 359 runs.

Nathan Lyon's turner leaves Shane Warne gobsmacked

Australia's Nathan Lyon has had a wicketless match in the second Ashes Test but has managed to create an impact for the visitors with some skillful bowling that left batsmen clueless. England were at 141 runs for the loss of two wickets when Nathan Lyon bowled an incredible turner, a delivery that can be compared to Shane Warne's ball of the century, to Joe Denly. The ball pitched outside the off and made a quick turn, cutting into the batsman's leg side as it hit Denly's pad. Shane Warne, who was at the commentatory box, was left speechless seeing Nathan Lyon's delivery.

Nathan Lyon and co appealed almost immediately to the umpire, asking for an LBW. A review was taken by the visitors and the Hawk-eye revealed that the ball had taken a huge turn after pitching and was seen missing the leg stumps. Nevertheless, the turn of the ball was a magnificent sight to see, especially for a player like Shane Warne. Visuals of the commentatory box reveal Shae Warne's shock and excitement as the Hawk-eye review is played on the giant screen.  See the delivery here:

Joe Root, Denly hold the ground for England

After a shocking collapse in the first innings, England came out with more determination to chase down the 359-run target set by Australia. The hosts lost their openers Rory Burns and Jason Roy in the earlier part of the innings following which Joe Root and Joe Denly stayed put on the field, frustrating the Australian bowlers. Joe Root remained unbeaten at 75 runs off 189 deliveries while Joe Denly made 50 runs off 155 balls before being dismissed by Josh Hazlewood. With vice-skipper Ben Stokes out to bat alongside skipper Joe Root, England will now hope to stage a miraculous turnaround in order to keep the Ashes urn within their sight. Australia, on the other hand, were mounting pressure on England with their pace attack but were left frustrated at the end of Day three.
