Afghanistan had a mixed World Cup run, losing all their nine matches despite some very close encounters which they could have possibly capitalized on. Skipper Gulabdin Naib, who was newly appointed as captain just before the World Cup, has made some startling revelations about some senior players in the team post the World Cup.

Naib has allegedly revealed that some senior players used to laugh after defeats instead of being sad. In addition to that, he claimed that some players did not coordinate with the skipper when they were asked to bowl and deliberately not performing when they were required to and allegedly looked away when they were asked to bowl.

Naib's appointment as skipper was opposed by senior players like Rashid Khan and Mohammad Nabi. The skipper, who had not issued any controversial statements during the tournament, has come out with the accusations reportedly after Afghanistan crashed out of the World Cup. Afghanistan fared very well with the Asian sides- a close encounter with both Pakistan and India in the group stage where they looked most likely to emerge as winners but faltered and failed to do so.

Against the other sides, Afghanistan visibly struggled and failed to go big. Naib himself looked like he was out of ideas on more than one occasion and also has been severely criticized for taking some crucial decisions that could have changed the course of the match. One such example was Naib bowling the final over in the game against Pakistan that saw the Men in Green snatch the game away from Afghanistan although the latter had the match under their control until that over.

Post the World Cup humiliation, Rashid Khan has been appointed as the captain for the underdog side. Naib, the former skipper, has assured Rashid Khan his full support and Rashid reciprocated the same in a tweet.
