MS Dhoni created a new record in the final against Mumbai Indians at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Sunday. He took two catches behind the stumps to dismiss the two Mumbai openers after they had provided a brisk start to the former champions. Dhoni first caught de Kock off Shardul Thakur when he tried to play a pull shot but ended up getting his gloves on the ball as Mahi took a good catch. In the next over, Dhoni showed faith in Deepak Chahar who was hit for 20 runs in his previous over. He repaid Dhoni with the prized wicket of Rohit Sharma. Chahar bowled a slower delivery as Rohit ended up playing inside the line and edging the ball which went straight into the safe hands of MS Dhoni.

Thus, after taking back-to-back catches, Dhoni has now become the most successful wicket-keeper in IPL. He now has 132 dismissals in the tournament and has managed to edge past Dinesh Karthik.
