New Zealand all-rounder James Neesham was heartbroken after his side lost out on being the World Champions by a whisker. However, his pain seems to have increased as his high school coach David James Gordon breathed his last during that edge-of-the-seat thrilling Super Over between the Black Caps'  and England in the World Cup final at Lord's on Sunday. Neesham opened the innings along with Martin Guptill and the over was bowled by England's new recruit Jofra Archer.

It happened when the Kiwi cricketer had smashed a six off Archer's second delivery according to Gordon's daughter Leonie.  A per  Leonie's statement, her father stopped breathing after Neesham had hit that maximum.  A nurse who had come in during that moment told that breathing is changing according to media reports.

After knowing about this incident, Neesham took to Twitter and paid tribute to his mentor. He described Gordon as his High School teacher, coach, and friend whose love for the game was infectious and thanked him for everything.
