Virender Sehwag was one of India's best cricketers during his tenure. He was known for his explosive batting and hard-hitting abilities. Even in Test matches, he had the ability to play big shots early on in the innings and that too at will. Be it fast bowlers or spinners, he always made them earn his wicket and used to play with fearless approach against them. Meanwhile, Sehwag was also a part of the Indian side that was led by Sourav Ganguly. In fact, he had opened the innings with Dada on many occasions as well. After all, who can forget their 105-run opening stand against England while chasing a mammoth target of 326 in that famous 2002 Natwest tri-series final? Viru has now come forward to talk about Ganguly after his appointment as the BCCI President.

'Ganguly wants to improve domestic cricket'

Speaking to a prominent newspaper, Virender Sehwag said that it was heartening to hear that his former captain wants to start his work from the domestic level as he is aware of the problems at the grassroots. Sehwag also added that when Dada was dropped from the Indian team later on in his career, he had spent a lot of time traveling around the country and after making a comeback to the national side, he used to talk about what the domestic circuit had lacked.

Viru lauds Dada's captaincy

Virender Sehwag also showered praises on Sourav Ganguly's captaincy by saying that the latter gave a player the kind of confidence that made him forget that he has actually flopped in the last eight to 10 innings. Terming it as some strange miracle, Sehwag said that the player used to then think that he was actually performing well and on the basis of that confidence, he would give his 100 percent all the time and win matches. The former vice-captain then mentioned that this is what he thought was Dada’s biggest strength as a leader. The former Delhi batsman also called Ganguly a very sharp and instinctive captain as he liked to involve everyone in decision-making. Sehwag also added that a lot of times, the new BCCI President used to listen to everyone but do what he thought was right.
