Ravindra Jadeja made a massive contribution at the Chepauk against two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders. He bowled a good spell with figures of 1-17 in his quota of four overs at an economy of 4.25. However, it was his unbelievable effort on the field which was the stand out performance of this game and one of the best in this tournament.
The incident happened in the 14th over of the KKR innings which was bowled by New Zealand speedster Scott Kuggeleijn and the batsman who was on strike was none other than the dangerous Andre Russell . The 27-year old bowled a wide one outside the off stump and Russell pounced on to it with a big swing. The timing was perfect and the ball had also made good connection with the bat. Just when it looked like the ball will clear the deep mid wicket boundary, Ravindra Jadeja pulled off an unbelievable sprint and prevented the ball from travelling the distance. Jadeja saved five runs for his side as Andre Russell got to the other end by running a single. Russell was looking visibly upset at the non-striker's end after what he had just witnessed.
Defending champions Chennai Super Kings host Kolkata Knight Riders at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Tuesday as both champion sides look to register their fifth win of this season where the winner will reach the summit of the points table. Both CSK and KKR share equal number of wins and points but KKR are table-toppers due to a superior run rate.
Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni won the toss and decided to bowl first. It turned out to be a good decision as the visitors lost wickets at regular intervals. The dangrous Chris Lynn was dismissed in the very first over by Deepak Chahhar and Sunil Narine followed him in the next over. Andre Russell played a stellar knock of an unbeaten 44-ball 50 to take KKR to a respectable total of 108/9 in their 20 overs.
