This is KL Rahul's sixth century of his ODI career. Initially, he started cautiously but gradually found his rhythm. Rahul reached his half-century off 60 balls and completed his century in 100 deliveries, striking 10 fours and 2 sixes along the way. His century came in the 47th over of the Indian innings, as he took two runs on the last ball of the over. Additionally, he forged a double-century partnership with Kohli, the highest-ever for India in Asia Cup cricket.

Prior to this innings, there were doubts regarding KL Rahul's place in the team, given his limited recent playing time. Some even questioned his direct inclusion in the Asia Cup. While there was a strong demand to replace Sanju Samson, the team management remained confident in Rahul's abilities. With this century, he has not only silenced the critics but also solidified his position in the playing XI for the upcoming matches in the tournament.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli also scored a century, his 47th in ODI cricket. Kohli reached the three-digit mark off 84 balls. In the process, Kohli also became the fastest batsman to complete 13,000 runs in ODI cricket. India scored 356/2 in 50 overs with Kohli and Rahul hitting an unbeaten 233 runs between them. Pakistan will need 357 runs to win the match.
