National Green Tribunal (NGT) on Monday imposed a fine of Rs 25 crore on AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government for failing to curb the rising pollution in the national capital. In wake of the rising air pollution in the national capital that is contributing to depleting health standards and high level of toxicity, Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir has hit out at the AAP government and BJP party in Delhi, stating that the Rs 25 crore fine will be paid by him and other tax-payers in Delhi.
Taking to Twitter, Gautam Gambhir took a jibe at Arvind Kejriwal as he wrote, "As the smoke faded away, a fraud tucked in a muffler came out." The cricketer went onto say that the fine will be paid from the pockets of the taxpayers 'wishing that he had the option to say that his tax was not for Delhi CM's callousness.

Meanwhile, the fine of Rs 25 crore imposed on the Delhi government will be deducted from the salaries of the Delhi government officials and people who have been polluting the environment, as per reports. Furthermore, if the AAP government fails to pay the fine, it will have to pay a fine of Rs 10 every month
A bench headed by NGT Chairperson Justice Adarsh Kumar Goel also asked the AAP government to furnish a performance guarantee of Rs 25 crore with the apex pollution monitoring body to ensure that there is no further lapse in this regard.
The alarmingly high rates of air pollution in the national capital have raised great concerns for the people as well as the state administration. According to the Centre-run System of Air Quality and Weather forecasting And Research(SAFAR), the Air Quality Index of the capital in the morning was recorded 346 falling in the 'very poor' category.
