The 12th edition of the ICC Cricket World Cup is less than 24 hours away from kickoff. The showpiece event will see 10 of the world's best teams compete against each other for the biggest prize in world cricket. However, just hours before the quadrennial event begins, die-hard cricket fans came forward with their 'All-Time List' questionnaire.

You will be surprised to know that there is only one standout person in the list who has ended up becoming a common favourite among the fans. No, it is not Sachin Tendulkar, Ricky Ponting, Brian Lara, MS Dhoni, AB de Villiers or Muttiah Muralitharan. Any guesses? Well, he is none other than five-time ICC Umpire of the Year award winner Simon Taufel. Yes, you have heard it right. The former Australian umpire is in the fans' 'All-Time List'. While fans had their own personal choices with regards to their favourite batsmen, bowler, wicket-keeper and commentator, they all were on the same page while choosing the favourite umpires.

Let's take a look at some of the tweets where Simon Taufel has won everyone's personal favourite in the best umpire's category.

Taufel, who had won five straight ICC ICC Umpire of the Year awards, from 2004-2008 was associated for 13 years in the field from 1999-2012. During his almost one-and-a-half decade-long career, he was also a member of the ICC Elite umpire panel. Surprisingly, the veteran of 74 Tests, 174 One Day Internationals and 34 T20I has only officiated in one World Cup final in 2011 which was played between India and Sri Lanka.
