After a long wait, the countdown to ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 has officially begun. However, before all the participating teams compete against each other for global supremacy in cricket, there will be an 'Opening Party' to officially launch the 12th edition of the Cricket World Cup. The Opening Party will take place at the iconic The Mall, London which is right outside the Buckingham Palace on Wednesday.
Cricket World Cup has posted a few images on their official Twitter handle about the Opening Party to launch the showpiece event. Take a look.
As per reports, there will be events like live sport, music and entertainment and 4,000 fans will make their presence felt. At the same time, this will also be the first occasion where an opening ceremony will not be taking place inside the stadium.
The Opening Party will start at 9:30 PM IST. It will be broadcast on the Star Sports Network and Doordarshan. One can also stream this event on Hotstar.
The 45-day event will be played across 11 venues. The quadrennial event begins on May 30 and will end on July 14 with a reserve day scheduled for July 15. Hosts England will begin their campaign against South Africa at the Oval on Thursday. The 10-team event will see each team meeting the other team once as per the Round-Robin format where the four best teams will qualify for the semifinals. The semifinals will take place at Old Trafford and Edgbaston respectively. Meanwhile, the final will be played at the 'Mecca of Cricket', Lord's.
