Pakistan's search for their maiden World Cup win over arch-rivals India continues as the Men In Blue got the better of them with a convincing 89-run (DLS method) win at the Old Trafford in Manchester on Sunday. After the defeat, the Pakistani players faced backlash from everyone including their fans, media, former cricketing greats and one of their sportspersons. However, the person who seemed to be most distraught after this lackluster loss was Shoaib Akhtar.

The former fast bowler termed Sarfaraz Ahmed's captaincy as 'Brainless' on his YouTube channel after India handed Pakistan their seventh straight defeat in their matches in World Cups. The 'Rawalpindi Express' also lashed out at pacer Hasan Ali who was the most expensive bowler of Pakistan's innings. Hasan had given away 84 runs in his nine overs at an economy rate of 9.33 and picked up the wicket of Rohit Sharma.

"Yet again, our bowling, Hasan Ali, he can jump on Wagah border, but when there is time to exert force, do it here. All these things look good if you take 6-7 wickets, you come here and give 82-84 runs, so I don't understand that. What mindset is this? I think his mindset is that he wants to be a T20 player, this is his 4th or 5th match for Pakistan and see the condition, neither is there any pace or swing. I'm failing to understand what he wants to achieve", said Akhtar

After being put into bat by Pakistan skipper Sarfaraz Ahmed, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul laid a solid platform for India with a 136-run opening stand. After Rahul was dismissed for a well-made 57, the Indian vice-captain then added 98 runs for the second-wicket stand with Virat Kohli. The Hitman scored a splendid 113-ball 140 at a strike rate of 123.89 which included 14 boundaries and three maximums. He won his second Man of the Match award of the tournament for yet another spectacular century.

After Sharma was dismissed, Kohli anchored the Indian innings. He scored a splendid half-century and also became the fastest batsman to score 11,000 runs. He scored a 65-ball 77. Some good batting in the end by Vijay Shankar and Kedar Jadhav helped India get to 336/5 in their 50 overs.

In reply, Pakistan lost their opener Imam-ul-Haq early on, but Fakhar Zaman and Babar Azam then stitched a 104-run stand for the second wicket as the duo registered half-centuries. They then suffered a batting collapse as the 1992 winners were reduced from 117/1 to 129/5. The rain interrupted the match for some time. Nonetheless, when play resumed, it was only a formality as Pakistan were given a revised target of 302 in their 40 overs and they finished at 212/6.
