Captain Sarfaraz Ahmed’s bold statement about the possibility of a ‘miracle’ and that they will try to score 500, was another moment that sparked memes galore. As the team could only manage to go a bit over 300 against their Asian counterpart, needing to restrict their opponent to just 7 runs to stand a chance, even the International Cricket Council trolled the team.

While even 350 would’ve demanded they dismiss Bangladesh for 39, this score meant they had to restrict the opposition to just 7 runs, to have a chance to qualify via net run rate.

Bangladesh had already scored 164/5 at the time of publishing this story, and if things go their way, Pakistan will have to be content with a consolation win to return home.
The semifinalists have now been confirmed, Australia, India, England and New Zealand. The last two are set to finish 3rd and 4th respectively while who finishes on top will be determined by India vs Sri Lanka and Australia vs South Africa encounters. The table topper will face New Zealand, while the second-placed team will be up against England.
