Bayern Munich keen on roping in Spurs boss Pochettino: Report

Bayern Munich are reportedly keen to replace Niko Kovac with Tottenham's manager Mauricio Pochettino after a not-so-good start to the season for the Bavarians.

Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich are eyeing Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino as a replacement for Niko Kovac, according to German media reports. Pochettino’s long-term future in north London remains in doubt following Tottenham's shaky start to the season. Both Pochettino and Bayern boss Niko Kovac are under fire in their current positions after less than stellar starts to the season.

Hasan Salihamidzic, the sporting director of Bayern Munich, has reportedly contacted Pochettino and is keen on the Argentine. Tottenham are going through a poor run of form without a Premier league match win in their last three. They also suffered a 7-2 beating from Bayern in the Champions League. Spurs currently sit 11th in the Premier League, well off the pace set by Liverpool and Manchester City at the top. Since losing the Champions League final, Tottenham have struggled to capitalise on their good 2018-19 season.

Pochettino admits his job is under threat

Pochettino admitted for the first time to a section of the British media that his job is under threat. However, he also insisted that he will not go worrying about it. Despite leading Bayern to the Bundesliga title last season, Kovac’s position has come under scrutiny this season. Kovac's men are second behind Borussia Monchengladbach and have only managed five wins from their first nine games. The Croatian recently criticised his team's attitude after they scraped past Bochum in the German Cup and claimed the squad would fail to cope with high-intensity game plans.

Despite Tottenham's poor form of late, Pochettino has been widely praised for his work with Spurs since he joined in 2014. And that has made him a worthy contender to replace the struggling Kovac in Germany.
