When asked by the media over the recent controversy, Granit Xhaka commented that he has been 100 per cent behind the club and his role as a player since he arrived at the Emirates. The player is committed to the club and that he will continue to stay positive, will give his all to an even greater extent and prove that he is an important part of the team.

When asked specifically about the incident with the fans, he commented that it was a very emotional experience for him but he is doing very well again, he has trained well and is looking forward to his next task. When Unai Emery was asked by the media about Granit Xhaka’s situation, he stated that he does not know if he's going to play for the Gunners again. Xhaka was appointed as captain of the club a few months back after a dressing room poll amongst players in pre-season, leaving Emery with no option, but to follow the majority suit.
