With their 2-0 win against Osasuna on Wednesday night, Real Madrid reached the top of the LaLiga points table. The win came courtesy of two goals from young footballers Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo. Vinicius scored the first goal in the 36th minute of the match and ended a goal drought which had dragged on since March. 18-year-old Rodrygo, who was signed from Santos in the summer, added an excellent second goal just one minute after coming off the bench. This goal was also Rodrygo’s first goal since joining the club.
Real Madrid climbed to the top of the points table with 14 points from six games. They have won four matches while two ended in draws. Osasuna, on the other hand, are 12th in LaLiga, with only seven points after playing six matches. They have won one and lost one, while four ended in a draw. Real Madrid are currently one point and one place ahead of Atletico Madrid, whom they will face on Saturday at the Wanda Metropolitano stadium.
Real Madrid were unbeaten in their last eight meetings against Osasuna in LaLiga. The Los Blancos' last defeat came against them came on January 11, 2011, in Pamplona. At Bernabeu, Real Madrid have an intact record against Osasuna with a win in their last nine games with a 3.4 goal average per game. Madrid have won 16 of the last 22 LaLiga clashes between both the sides. The favourites beat Osasuna 7-1 at home and 5-1 away the following season, but their opponents will have fond memories of a famous victory at the end of the 2008-09 season.
