Manchester United youngster Tahith Chong has decided to not renew his contract at the club according to multiple media reports. The 19-year old’s contract expires in the summer and will be available. Italian giants Juventus are monitoring the situation and are keen to sign the youngster.
Mason Greenwood was recently offered a contract renewal by Manchester United and it was almost certain that Tahith Chong will get one too. But it is reportedly believed that Chong has decided to reject the offer. Juventus are monitoring the situation and are very keen to snap up the Dutch youngster. Juventus are known to pick up players on a free transfer with the likes of Paul Pogba, Emre Can, Adrien Rabiot, Aaron Ramsey, and Andrea Pirlo headlining the list of superstars.
Chong has made eight appearances for Manchester United, all coming under current manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. He has played 152 minutes of football this season, with his latest appearance being in the 1-0 loss to Newcastle United at St. James' Park. Chong is not expected to get much game time this season, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer preferring his academy teammate Mason Greenwood over him.
It’s not the first time that the Juventus hierarchy has snapped up a Manchester United youngster for free. Paul Pogba, who ran out his contract in 2012, joined Juventus for a free transfer before making a world record move back to Manchester United. While there’s a chance that of another Pogba situation developing, it is unlikely with the competition for places at Juventus. Juventus already have the likes of Douglas Costa, Mario Mandzukic, Paulo Dybala, Federico Bernadeschi at their disposal and it’ll be more difficult to break into the Juventus team than Manchester United.
