Cain Velasquez made his beast slaying debut in the closing moments of SmackDown last week, where he forced Brock Lesnar to retreat with his newly won WWE championship title. After seeing Velasquez punishing Lesnar in the ring, fans were excited to see this dream match come true. However, their hopes could shatter as the recent reports suggest that Velasquez is yet to sign any deal with the WWE. To make the matters more serious Dave Meltzer recently revealed in an interview that Velasquez needs surgery on his left knee. Meltzer’s claims may be true as the former UFC champion was wearing a giant knee brace in his leg when he came to the ring to confront The Beat.
While talking at a wrestling radio show, Meltzer revealed that they can do Velasquez vs Lesnar at WrestleMania as he has to undergo a surgery. If Velasquez fights the beast at Crown Jewel pay-per-view and then undergoes surgery, he might not return. Meltzer then said that if Velasquez decides gets it in November, he will definitely not compete in WrestleMania. However, if he decides to get a minor surgery, he may return.
Velasquez arrived at the ring with his friend Rey Mysterio moments after Brock Lesnar defeated Kofi Kingston to become the new WWE champion. If you’re unaware, Velasquez knocked out Lesnar to win the UFC Heavyweight Championship from him. After his defeat, Lesnar was unable to fight for months. In Friday's match, Velasquez took Lesnar down and punished him by delivering several punches to The Beast.
Lesnar later fled from the ring with Paul Hayman and his WWE Championship belt. Later, in an interview, Velasquez revealed his real motive to come to SmackDown. Velasquez said that he was there because of what Lesnar did earlier in RAW. Lesnar assaulted Mysterio and his son Dominick which made him angry and being Mysterio’s friend he decided to arrive in SmackDown.
