WWE may be aiming at establishing Daniel Bryan as a babyface in the upcoming episodes of SmackDown. Bryan, since his wrestling return, was a heel until he lost the title to Kofi Kingston in Wrestlemania 35. Bryan has been a sporadic part of WWE programming since WrestleMania because of the concussion he suffered during his WrestleMania bout.

FOX officials believe in Daniel Bryan

It is being reported that Daniel Bryan was supposed to be pushed from the time Eric Bischoff briefly joined the WWE. The reports further state that FOX – the network which has acquired SmackDown – heavily believes in Bryan's potential. Bryan is a fan favourite whenever he plays a face and this could especially be seen during the 'Yes Movement' in 2014. Bryan is also one of WWE's top merchandise selling personalities and he is also a very well rounded wrestler.

WWE in need of redemption

The stock of the WWE has been tumbling down because of heavy competition from All-Elite Wrestling and investors not being convinced of the WWE product. Daniel Bryan is one of WWE's most influential superstars in the 2010s. If Bryan's character is pushed to the forefront again, WWE can revive TV ratings and fan interest again. Fans have criticised WWE for its lack of innovation and not paying attention to some superstars. It was also reported that WWE was trying to re-hire CM Punk in order to rejuvenate fan interest. It will be interesting to see how Vince McMahon's company chooses to turn its fortunes around.
