Last week, former UFC Heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez announced his retirement from MMA and also withdrew his name from the USADA testing pool. According to sources, Velasquez took this decision because of his newfound love for WWE. After retiring from the UFC, Velasquez signed a contract with the WWE. But that doesn’t mean that he is leaving the Ultimate Fighting Championship because he is fed up. Velasquez earlier penned an emotional message on Twitter for his UFC fans, officials and his fellow wrestlers.
Cain Velasquez thanked his family, friends and all the UFC fans for being with him for the past 11 years. He also thanked his coaches, teammates and agents. He said that he was blessed to have a career doing something he absolutely loves. “There are few people in this world that can say that they have achieved what I have, and I am forever grateful for the opportunities and position I held being part of the UFC,” Velasquez added.
Cain Velasquez then expressed his love for the WWE and wrote about his new career. He revealed that he fell in love with WWE when he watched his first live show a year ago. He said that he has been to many WWE shows since then and has watched more matches then he would like to admit. He also admitted of signing the contract with WWE and revealed that his next goal is to become the WWE Universal Champion. Velasquez ended the message by thanking the WWE Universe for welcoming him with open arms.
Cain Velasquez made his official WWE debut a few weeks ago in the first episode of SmackDown on FOX. He came in the ring with Rey Mysterio and took Brock Lesnar down and punished him by delivering several punches to 'The Beast'. Earlier it was announced that Cain Velasquez will once again face his UFC rival for the WWE Championship in the upcoming Crown Jewel PPV. The two will face each other in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia on October 31, 2019.
