Gurindervir Singh Smashes 100m National Record, Clocks 10.20s At Indian Grand Prix 1

Gurindervir Singh has broken the national 100m record at the at the Indian Grand Prix in Bengaluru on Friday. He has clocked 10.20 seconds.

Gurindervir Singh has smashed the national 100m record at the at the Indian Grand Prix in Bengaluru on Friday. He has clocked 10.20 seconds to break Manikanta Hoblidhar's previous record of 10.23 seconds in October 2023.

Gurindervir Singh Creates New 100m National Record

Manikanta was two seconds slower than Gurindervir, while Amlan Borgohain was third with a time of 10.43 seconds. Gurindervir also happened to have bettered his previous record of 10.27 seconds in 2021. In the proceedings, Hoblidhar has also enhanced his personal record by 0.01 seconds. Gurindervir and Hoblidhar were lined up in lane 5 and lane 6, respectively and they were neck to neck from the start of the race, but it was the former who eventually raced ahead to set up a new national record.

Singh had previously won gold in the 100-meter event at the 2024 Federation Cup and the 2021 and 2024 National Inter-State Championships. Gurindervir Singh, Manikanta Hoblidhar, Amlan Borgohain and Animesh Kujur are regarded as India's top runners in this category. But Kujur didn't take part in this competition. Amlan Borgohain happens to be the current national record holder in the 200m category.

India's performances in athletics on the international stage haven't been satisfactory. Except for Neeraj Chopra , none of the others managed to get on the podium at the Paris Olympics .
