The boxing fraternity and sports fans around the world were shocked to hear the news that former Olympic gold medalist and two time heavyweight champion George Foreman has passed away at the age of 76. George Foreman was considered as one of the biggest rivals of Muhammad Ali and fought him in a boxing bout which was famously known as the ‘Rumble In The Jungle’. The news of Foreman's death was announced on social media by the members of his family as the boxing world was shocked to hear the news.
Mike Tyson is one of the biggest names in boxing as he was nicknamed ‘Iron Mike Tyson’ for his ferocious style of boxing. Mike Tyson however recently made a comeback to boxing when he took on former youtuber Jake Paul in a boxing bout which the legendary boxer lost due to his age.
Mike Tyson and George Foreman both of whom are notable figures in the boxing world, never met in the ring and later Mike Tyson revealed that it was one of his biggest regrets to not be able to fight Foreman. Now Mike Tyson has reacted on social media on George Foreman's passing.
‘Condolences to George Foreman’s family. His contribution to boxing and beyond will never be forgotten,’ wrote Mike Tyson on social media platform X as he offered his condolences to Foreman and his family.
George Foreman had a glorious boxing career which saw him get 76 wins. Out of these 76 wins, 68 of these were knockout wins. In 1968, George Foreman won the Olympics Gold Medal. Foreman throughout his long career was also the World Heavyweight Champion twice and it is quite remarkable that both of these championships came 21 years apart.
George Foreman retired from boxing in 1997 and only lost five times in his career. His first ever loss in boxing came against Muhammad Ali.
