With Rahul Dravid's term as Team India's head coach coming to an end shortly, the BCCI is searching for a qualified coach to take over as head coach. There have been many rumours that Gautam Gambhir will take over, and in the midst of all of this confusion, the KKR mentor recently led his franchise to glory in IPL 2024 and it is anticipated that he will be the new Indian Cricket Team coach after the T20 World Cup.

Gautam Gambhir, the Kolkata Knight Riders' current mentor and former opener for India, responded to rumours surrounding his possible nomination as the country's next head coach recently. Rather than responding directly to the rumours, Gambhir said he wasn't really thinking ahead.
The 2024 T20 World Cup is when Rahul Dravid, the head coach of Team India at the moment, will leave service. Dravid has attested to not having asked for an extension. Gambhir has come up as a top contender to take Dravid's place in recent days.
According to reports, Gambhir took part in an earlier this week virtual interview with the Cricket Advisory Committee of the BCCI. At an Indian Chambers of Commerce function in Kolkata on Friday, June 21, Gautam Gambhir was asked about his possible new position as head coach of India. To which he replied (via-PTI):
"I don't see that far ahead. You are grilling me, asking me all tough questions. It is difficult to answer right now."All I can say is that I'm happy being here, just finished a brilliant journey (and) let's enjoy that. I'm in a very happy space right now,"
Regarding his coaching philosophies, 42-year-old Gautam Gambhir stressed the need to put the team before of personal goals. He said:
"If you have the intent of keeping your team ahead of any individual, things will fall in place."If not today, tomorrow, if not tomorrow, someday it will fall in place. But if you start thinking on that, or if you know that you need to help one or two individuals perform, then your team will only suffer."
The ex-Indian southpaw had a distinguished career, participating in 58 Test matches, 147 One Day Internationals (ODIs), and 37 Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is), accumulating more than 10,000 runs in international cricket.
