Virat Kohli Has Made His Feelings Clear to BCCI Over Working With Gautam Gambhir as Player-Coach

The excitement for the India tour of Sri Lanka has exceeded after the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the T20I and ODI sides for the series. It will be Gautam Gambhir's first assignment as the coach of the Indian National Cricket Team, and the anticipation is at an all-time high. To everyone's surprise, Senior players like Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will make a return during the tour's ODI leg of matches. The instance was peculiar, as Kohli expected to be given a break, but coach Gambhir requested his presence in his first assignment as the head coach. Moreover, the ace India batter offered his directive for Gambhir to be a part of the dressing room as a coaching staff amidst their past issues.

Virat Kohli’s Clear Message to BCCI on Working Alongside Coach Gautam Gambhir

The rivalry between Gautam Gambhir and Virat Kohli was at its peak during the IPL 2023 season during a Lucknow Super Giants vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru clash. Both camps came out of their benches, and the incident was very heated as the duo exchanged words. But as Gautam Gambhir takes up the role of the coach, a lot of buzz erupted on how the situation will be between Gambhir and Kohli when they share the locker room as coach and player. As it turns out, Virat has sent a clear message to the BCCI management regarding Gambhir's involvement in the team as the coach.

As per Cricbuzz, Virat Kohli is happy working alongside Gautam Gambhir and has pledged that his earlier differences with the former India cricketer will not hinder their connections.

“Kohli is believed to have stated that previous issues will not affect their professional relationship in the dressing room. Following the (T20) World Cup final in Barbados, discussions were reportedly held on the matter. Kohli, who, like Gambhir, is from Delhi, assured the concerned parties that he recognises both are working towards the country’s interests and is ready to move on from earlier disagreements,” the report mentioned.

Virat Kohli will be a part of the ODI series as he makes his return in the request of Gautam Gambhir. The Delhi boys will work together as they will face off against Sri Lanka in the white-ball series.
