Exclusive/ 'We Should Be Proud Of Our Roots': Anil Kumble Emphasizes On The Importance On Nationalism At Republic Plenary Summit

Anil Kumble is one of the biggest names in Indian and world cricket. The right arm leg spinner is one of the greatest bowlers that India has produced. He holds the record for most test wickets for India as he took a total of 619 wickets in test cricket while donning the white jersey for India. He was known for his ability to extract bounce and spin from the ball even under tough conditions while his consistency and accuracy made him a feared opponent for batters. Anil Kumble also served as India's captain and was later named as the coach of the Indian team. While speaking at the Republic Plenary Summit 2025 Anil Kumble emphasized on the importance of nationalism as he gave examples from his own playing days. 

Anil Kumble On The Importance Of Nationalism 

Former Indian Captain and coach Anil Kumble while speaking at the Republic Plenary Summit 2025 spoke about the importance of nationalism and used examples from his own life when he used to represent India. While speaking at the Republic Plenary Summit he stated that we the Indian people should be proud of our roots. He further told that whenever he was playing for India and the national anthem used to be played he would get goosebumps.

“We should be proud of our roots, our culture. When we go out and represent our country and the national anthem plays, it gives you goosebumps. The moment when you win the match and you go back, the 90% of the crowd is always Indian and that gives us a lot of pride. Eleven players play on the field, but the 12th man is always the ones who support us. In my view, if you can do your role, you are assigned with dedication, you are almost there. When I go play cricket for India, or when I travel, the amount of adulation I get is really fantastic,” said Anil Kumble while speaking at the Republic Plenary Summit.
