'Gauti bhai is very intense': Ashwin Reveals Major Difference Between Gambhir and Rohit's Leadership
Gautam Gambhir recently took over as the head coach of the Indian cricket team after Rahul Dravid stepped down following the T20 World Cup triumph.
In the ever-evolving landscape of Indian cricket, leadership styles often come under the spotlight. R Ashwin, one of India's premier spinners, has recently shared his thoughts on the contrasting leadership approaches of Indian head coach Gautam Gambhir and captain Rohit Sharma, shedding light on the unique qualities each brings to the table.
Ashwin points out a major difference between the leadership styles of Gambhir and Rohit
Speaking candidly, Ashwin described Gautam Gambhir as a very intense leader. "Gauti bhai is very intense. There are similarities between Rohit and Gauti bhai's leadership, but Rohit keeps it light. Gauti bhai is an intense person," Ashwin said.
Gambhir's intensity is well-known, often mirrored in his fiery on-field demeanor and the unwavering commitment he shows toward the team's success. This intensity, Ashwin suggested, sets Gambhir apart, but it doesn't diminish the effectiveness of other leadership styles within the team.
Ashwin also compared Gambhir's leadership to that of Rohit Sharma, highlighting the contrast in their approaches. While Gambhir's passion is palpable, Rohit Sharma, the current captain of the Indian cricket team, is known for his calm and composed demeanor. "Rohit keeps it light," Ashwin noted.
Ashwin further elaborated on Gambhir's passion for Indian cricket, drawing parallels between Gambhir and another stalwart of Indian cricket, Rahul Dravid. "He (Gambhir) is very passionate about Indian cricket, just like Rahul bhai. Both are very passionate about Indian cricket, but we believe both are different," Ashwin said.
Ashwin emphasized the importance of embracing these differences in leadership styles, rather than expecting uniformity. "Yes, they have different personalities. But people are like, 'MS Dhoni was cool, so everyone should be cool.' It isn't like that. Everyone has their own methods, and we should encourage that," Ashwin added.
