Former India cricketer and coach Rahul Dravid has given some sound advise to his son Samit after the latter got picked for the national U-19 squad and that made headlines. With all the spotlight on the young kid, one understands, he is already dealing with a lot of pressure. Samit will soon be seen playing in the blue jersey against Australia. Once Samit got picked for the national side, his coach Karthik Jeswanth revealed what he and Rahul Dravid have been advising the young turk.
Rahul Dravid’s golden tip for son Samit
“Samit has grown up knowing what his father’s stature is and knows that there is going to be a lot of pressure. So that’s what Rahul and myself have been telling him, not to be bothered about any outside noise or attention. He will be judged on his own skills and what he does on the field. He has to learn to live with the attention without it affecting his batting,” Karthik told the Indian Express.
Will Samit play the U-19 World Cup?
As unfortunate as it may sound, he will not be able to represent the country at the U-19 WC. Samit was born on November 10, 2005, and is only two months away from celebrating his 19th birthday. By the time the U-19 WC comes around in 2026, he would be 21 by then and would hence not make the cut.
India U-19 will play the three-match one-day series against Australia in Puducherry on September 21, 23 and 26. The Indian side would be led by Uttar Pradesh's Mohammad Amaan.
