Test Cricket has been the pinnacle of the sport and nothing changes the fact. It is the purest format of the game that builds legends and cements their legacy. After the advent of the T20Is, there was a popular belief that Test cricket will lose its relevance, but it has continued to entertain cricket fans. The introduction of the World Test Championship has also helped Test cricket survive in times where there is a huge demand for T20 cricket.

Cricket Australia have announced that they will host the England in an one-off Test match to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the longest format of the game. England and Australia are cricket's oldest rivals and when they lock horns with each other in Test cricket, it always has been a sight to behold. The match will be played in March 2027 and it will be Pink Ball Test. Melbourne Cricket Ground has been bestowed with the responsibility of hosting the prestigious Test match.

Cricket Australia Breaks Age Old Tradition

The Australia vs England Test match has been scheduled for March 11-15 and it will be the first day-night Test fixture for the Melbourne Cricket Ground. The MCG recently hosted the women's Ashes Test, which was also a Pink Ball Test match.

Cricket Australia have let go off the traditional red ball format which was used in the inaugural Test (1877) and the centenary Test (1977). Both these Test matches were played in Melbourne. But this time around, the MCG will host the day-night Test to honour Test Cricket's 150th anniversary.
