In a statement posted on Facebook, Litton Das urged his fellow citizens to reject communal divisions and emphasized the importance of unity in the face of the country's current challenges.
"Dear countrymen, I want to clarify something with all due respect. Recently, various media outlets have reported that our home was attacked, but there is no truth to this. Please do not believe these rumors. My family and I are completely safe. I firmly believe that our country is a non-communal nation. We should move forward together, irrespective of religion or caste, this should be our guiding principle. I am deeply grateful to the people of Dinajpur for their efforts in protecting each other. I hope we can continue to stand united in the future and keep our country free from violence, because this country belongs to all of us," Litton Das wrote.
The cricketer’s statement comes amidst a period of significant civil unrest in Bangladesh. The turmoil erupted following a student protest against the reinstatement of a controversial quota system by the High Court, which reserves 30 percent of government jobs for the families of freedom fighters.
The demonstrations, initially peaceful, quickly turned violent, leading to widespread chaos. The situation escalated to the point where Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was forced to flee the country, with the military stepping in to establish an interim government.
