The Indian Cricket team after scripting history at Barbados, on June 29, 2024 has now returned home. The coveted T20 WC trophy which stayed away from the Indian subcontinent for 17 odd years has now come home. It has been four days since India won their second T20 World Cup and the country has been waiting patiently to welcome their champions. The 'men in blue' were scheduled to reach the Indian subcontinent on July 1, 2024 but their travel was delayed, as hurricane Beryl made landfall in Barbados.

BCCI Shares Unseen Footages of T20 World Champions Reaching India

The Indian team received a rousing reception as they landed in Delhi on July 4,2024. It was still early hours in the morning but the amount of gathering at the Delhi airport to welcome the victorious Indian team shows that the nation was desperate for an ICC trophy. The Indian team also had a small cake cutting ceremony post which they headed to Mumbai for a victory parade which will start from Mumbai airport and end at the Wankhede Stadium. The Indian team also met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and presented him the T20 World Cup trophy.

Rohit Sharma and Co. Set To Recreate Team India's Iconic 2007 Victory Parade

Team India's victory parade in Mumbai is expected to have a huge gathering. The parade will start from the Mumbai airport in an open bus specially designed for the T20 World Champions. When MS Dhoni and his young Indian Team won the 2007 T20 World Cup, they had a victory parade in Mumbai which was attended by people in huge number.

Rohit Sharma Creates History In Barbados

On June 29, 2024, Rohit Sharma became the only cricketer to win the T20 World Cup both as a player and as a captain which is a record in itself. Alongside MS Dhoni and Kapil Dev, Rohit Sharma is only the third Indian skipper to win an ICC trophy. India also became, only the third team after England and West Indies to win the T20 World Cup for the second time.
