Virat Kohli's Record In ICC Finals

Kohli played his first ICC Final match in the ODI World Cup 2011 when India faced Sri Lanka in Mumbai. In his maiden ICC Final, Kohli scored 35 runs from 49 balls after coming to bat at number 4 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

In the Champions Trophy 2013, India faced England in the summit clash in Birmingham, where Kohli played a 43-run knock from 35 balls. The Men in Blue clinched a five-run victory in the game.

With experience of playing at two ICC finals, T20 World Cup 2014 was the place for Kohli to shine. The right-handed batter smashed 77 runs from 58 balls at Dhaka's Shere Bangla National Stadium. Even though Kohli put up a performance, the Men in Blue failed to seal a win in the Final and had to suffer a four-wicket defeat.

2017 was not a year of Kohli. In the Final of the Champions Trophy at The Oval, Kohli showcased a sluggish performance, scoring just five runs against Pakistan. The Men in Green won the game by a massive 180 runs to seal the title.

Kohli scored 44 runs in the first inning and 13 in the second against New Zealand in the World Test Championship 2021 Final in Southampton. India suffered an 8-wicket defeat against the Kiwis in the Final.

2023 was another disappointing year for Kohli. He played a knock of 14 and 49 runs in the final match of the 2023 World Test Championship Final against Australia at The Oval. India conceded a 209-run loss against the Baggy Greens in the final.

In the ODI World Cup 2023, Kohli showed grit and played a 54-run knock from 63 against the mighty Australians. He slammed 4 fours during his time on the crease. But it was not enough to help the Men in Blue clinch a win.

Kohli Was Named ‘Player of the Match’ In His Previous ICC Final

Kohli revived himself in the 2024 T20 World Cup Final against South Africa, scoring 76 runs and slamming 6 fours and 2 sixes against the Proteas. The Men in Blue sealed a 7-run triumph in the tournament to end India's 11-year drought without an ICC trophy. He was also named the 'Player of the Match' in that game.
