MS Dhoni's longevity has been a major subject of debate. The 43-year-old is playing in his 18th season of IPL and hasn't shown any restraints.
Dhoni was central to CSK's IPL 2025 victory over Mumbai Indians, the former Indian skipper turned back the clock with a lightning-fast stumping to dismiss Suryakumar Yadav. Dhoni's fitness has been a hot topic of discussion but Navjot Singh Sindhu has backed the player to play till the age of 50.

While speaking on Star Sports, Sidhu insisted that Dhoni is ageing just like a fine wine.
"At 43 years old, he is still the best. He’s like old wine—getting better with time. Just look at his fitness. A wicketkeeper’s survival depends on it, and Dhoni’s technique, combined with his effortless execution, is remarkable. The respect he has earned over the years is simply astounding. It was the sweetest and most heartwarming sight when he walked up to young Vignesh, patted him on the back, and encouraged him. That kind of motivation is like premium gasoline—it fuels a player to overcome life’s toughest challenges."
Dhoni passed the leadership baton to Ruturaj Gaikwad on the eve of IPL 2024 but he remains a pivotal part of the CSK setup and was retained by the five-time IPL champions as an uncapped player for IPL 2025.
Sidhu further added, "Somewhere down the line, Dhoni has won hearts. He has nothing left to prove, yet people don’t want him to leave the game. And I’d bet my life on one thing—he might just be the only cricketer who could still score a half-century for Chennai Super Kings at 50!"
CSK failed to reach the IPL playoffs last year and given their current squad they will be very much in the race for the IPL title this time.
