Ravichandran Ashwin and MS Dhoni's combination worked wonders for both India and CSK. The maverick Indian spinner recently hung up his boots during the Border gavaskar Trophy but will continue to play domestic cricket as he has been picked by Chennai Super Kings at the IPL 2025 mega auction.
Ashwin retired with 106 Test matches under his belt. But the veteran Indian spinner revealed he actually had plans to retire after his 100th Test and even invited MS Dhoni for the occasion.
During a book event launch in Chennai on Sunday, he said, "I called MS Dhoni for my 100th Test in Dharamshala to hand over the memento. I wanted to make that my last Test. But he couldn't make it. However, I didn't think he would give me the gift of getting me back to CSK. It's a much better one. So, thank you, MS, for doing it. I'm glad to be here."
Netizens have reacted on social media sharing their heartfelt emotions on the Dhoni-Ashwin bond.
CSK will face Mumbai Indians on March 23 to kickoff their IPL 2025 campaign. Ashin happened to have made his IPL debut against Mumbai Indians back in 2009 and he could be again unleashed against the five-time champions. His IPL show helped him to get his maiden India ODI call-up in 2010 followed by his inclusion in the Test team the following year. He is currently eighth in the all-time wicket-taking list in Test matches with 537 scalps to his name.
