Mahendra Singh Dhoni's retirement has been a hot topic for the last couple of years. Ahead of IPL 2025, Dhoni was retained by Chennai Super Kings as An uncapped player courtesy of BCCI's new rule.
Speculations became pretty rife upon Dhoni's arrival in Chennai as the former Indian skipper was seen wearing a t-shirt with a cryptic code "One Last Time". The 43-year-old has been the flagbearer of CSK since the inception of the IPL and shares a very passionate relationship with the fans.

The 43-year-old is one of the very few players to be involved in every IPL edition and is set to mark his 18th edition with a match against the Mumbai Indians. The former Indian skipper will be seen in a different avatar under the guidance of Ruturaj Gaikwad who is in his second year as the CSK skipper.
Ahead of CSK's IPL 2025 opener against MI, he brushes off the retirement rumours surrounding MS Dhoni for so many tears. As quoted by India TV he said, "If you see now even Sachin Tendulkar is batting as great as he is right even now at the age of 50 [51]. So, I think still many years to go.
“I think his training is very much limited to whatever he tries to achieve or whatever his role would be in the IPL. So, it is pretty much very simple, focused on trying to hit as much as sixes as possible and trying to get the right swing, trying to be in the best shape.”
It remains to be seen whether CSK will use MS Dhoni as an impact player or if the 43-year-old will continue to deliver from behind the stumps. CSK failed to qualify for the IPL playoffs last time and they will hope to rediscover their touch in IPL 2025.
