'Everyone has their own problems': Rohit Sharma reacts to SA's less-formidable side for NZ tour

India captain Rohit Sharma has reacted to South Africa's announcement of an inexperienced lineup for the forthcoming Test series against New Zealand. According to Sharma, the best players should always be playing the longest format of the game. India will play South Africa in the series' second and final Test at Newlands Cricket Ground in Cape Town.

Rohit Sharma's take on SA squad for NZ series

South Africa announced an inexperienced roster for their next Test journey to New Zealand, with only seven capped players. Beginning February 4, the Proteas will face New Zealand in a two-match Test series.

The series begins on February 4 at Bay Oval in Mount Maunganui, followed by a match at Seddon Park in Hamilton, which will commence on February 13. Cricket South Africa announced the squad for the NZ tour by considering the number of the players that wll be taking part in the SA20 tournament, which is scheduled to begin from January 10.

During the pre-match news conference for the second Test in Cape Town, Rohit described Test cricket as the ultimate challenge, saying that only the finest players should play in this format.

“Honestly, for me Test cricket is the ultimate challenge and you would want to see the best players playing in that format. Everyone has their own problems to deal with. I am pretty sure there is a reason behind it I don't know what the reason is. Definitely, Test cricket is something where you want to see the best cricket being played, best and top players being available," said Rohit.

"I don't know what the internal talks or what the discussions are in Cricket South Africa. But in my perspective a lot of thought should be given to Test cricket because it is the ultimate challenge you face in this sport and we want to be challenged every day,” Rohit added.
