Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli both announced their retirement from T20 Internationals after guiding India to T20 World Cup 2024 glory and breaking the nation's 13 year wait for a World Cup crown.
While, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will continue to play white ball cricket for India in ODIs, there is still uncertainty over whether the two would make it to 2027 ODI World Cup in South Africa. Despite, India's new head coach Gautam Gambhir claiming that both stalwarts could play in 2027, former Indian opener doesn't believe this is possible as he has casted major doubt over captain Rohit Sharma's fitness.
Despite their best efforts in 2023, Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli failed to take India to the ODI World Cup title as they heartbreakingly lost in the final against Australia at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
While, Virat Kohli has won the ODI World Cup once, Rohit Sharma has never won the ODI World Cup and according to former Indian Opener and World Cup winner in 83, Rohit's dream will remain unfulfilled as he doesn't think he will be able to play in 2027.
K Srikkanth belovedly known as ‘Cheeka’ on his Youtube channel claimed that while Virat Kohli can play in the World Cup, there is no way Rohit Sharma will be available to play taking a sly dig at the Indian captain's fitness.
“Virat Kohli will play 2027 World Cup but Rohit Sharma would faint,” said K Srikkanth on Rohit Sharma's participation.
This is a brutally blunt take from K Srikkanth on Rohit's fitness and shows a shade at the Team India skipper for not maintaining his best shape.

India's new head coach Gautam Gambhir in his first press conference made it clear that Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli are still two of the best batters and he expects them to play till 2027 World Cup if they maintain fitness.
“I think they have shown what they can deliver on the big stage, whether it's the T20 World Cup or the 50-over World Cup. One thing I can be very clear is that both of those guys have a lot of cricket left in them. And more importantly, the Champions Trophy is coming up and a big tour of Australia, they will be motivated enough. And then hopefully, if they can keep their fitness, the 2027 World Cup is there,” said Gautam Gambhir.
Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will be back in action for Team India in the first ODI against Sri Lanka on India's tour of Sri Lanka.
