Faf opened the batting along with the former Australian all-rounder Shane Watson after MS Dhoni had won the toss and decided to bat first. The duo stitched in a 56 run opening stand before Watson was dismissed for 26 in the eighth over. Faf continued to pile on the runs and bought up his 10th half-century.
The South African skipper scored a blistering 38-ball 54 at a strike rate of 142.11 which included two boundaries and four maximums. CSK got to a competitive 160/3 after finishing touches from MS Dhoni (37) and Ambati Rayadu (21).
