While speaking in one of the videos on his YouTube channel, former Pakistan Cricketer Basit Ali offered a 'special mention' to Australia bowler Pat Cummins, who also led the Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2024 season. The former cricketer said that it would be unfair if he did not mention Cummins while speaking on Nitish's ascend in the Indian Cricket Team as the Aussie supported him and opener Abhishek Sharma throughout the IPL 2024 season.
"A special mention to Pat Cummins. It would be unfair if I didn't take his name. The way he has supported Abhishek Sharma and Nitish Kumar Reddy in the IPL , we must address that," Basit Ali said in the video.
Notably, Nitish Kumar Reddy had a breakout season in the IPL 2024 season, and the batting all-rounder flourished under Pat Cummins' captaincy. His explosive batting in the middle order bolstered SRH into a force to be reckoned with. The Sunrisers ended up as the runners-up in the 2024 season, with the Kolkata Knight Riders becoming the three-time champions after winning the final at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
India found itself in trouble after losing their top order early in the power-play, but Nitish Kumar Reddy and Rinku Singh banded together to turn the tables on Bangladesh . The pair put on 108 runs for the fourth wicket from 49 balls, taking the game away from Bangladesh, with Reddy hitting seven sixes and four fours for 74 from just 34 balls.
