Gautam Gambhir gets fierce competition from legendary India cricketer: 'I would love to coach India'

Former BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has expressed his desire to coach the Indian cricket team as Rahul Dravid prepares to leave after a three-year tenure. Speaking to news agency ANI, Ganguly said that he would love to coach the Indian team if given an opportunity by the board.

Meanwhile, Sourav Ganguly also backed Gautam Gambhir for the head coach's role in the Indian cricket team. There were speculations that Gautam Gambhir may become the next head coach of Team India, replacing Rahul Dravid. Although nothing is confirmed as of yet, Ganguly has said Gambhir will be a good candidate to coach the Indian team. 

"I would love to coach the Indian team. If he wants to do it, I think he will be a very good candidate," Ganguly told news agency ANI.

Sourav Ganguly also spoke about Rishabh pant's return to the Indian cricket team. Ganguly said that Pant is a good player as he exuded confidence in the Indian team to do well in the T20 World Cup 2024.

"He (Rishabh Pant) will play well. He is a good player. The World Cup has not yet started, India is playing its warm-up matches. On 5th June, they are playing their first game. They will do well, they are a good side," Ganguly said.

India are scheduled to play their opening match of the T20 World Cup 2024 against Ireland on June 5. India will then lock horns against arch-rivals Pakistan on June 9.
